and the future truly is bright for Michelle and Chad.

Edutopia - Back To School Supplies

This is a very cool project that you can help out with.
Edutopia will give money to school teachers for school
supplies if they get enough "likes" for their  Facebook page.
You can also win a really great $250 gift card. WIN- WIN!
I created some back to school items for the event.
I had a super fun limited palette to work with.
I really like working within those limits. It's a nice challenge.
I composed the header above but also gave them each item
individually so they could use them for other things.
Pretty awesome!!
So please help them out by liking their page.
Pass it on and help lots of teachers along the way.
The more "Likes", the more money they give.
It all ends August 24th.

Fwends Forever

This is going to be awesome!
I made a piece for the new show at Gallery Nucleus
and the subject is a favorite of mine (and everyone else's.)
ADVENTURE TIME!
It was hard to decide what to narrow it down to but
I am super excited about what I came up with.
What I like about the show is the amount of unhighlighted detail.
They put a lot of work into the entirety of the Land of Ooo.
So I wanted to do a piece that looked really simple but
was actually more complex. So I made the piece two-sided.
Here is the back of the piece.
It looks like it is just the backside of the paper but
it's actually a whole other piece, waving snail and all.
Then I got a floating frame for it to all sit in.
Everything was really fun to make but
I think my favorite part of the piece is Finn's backpack.
So go out tomorrow to Gallery Nucleus for the opening.
There will be lots of people from the show there as well
as well as a lot of amazing art. It's always a good time at Nucleus.

Diagon Alley

Here is a commission I did for a friend of Diagon Alley.
Cutting buildings seems like a nightmare in my
head but it's actually super fun once I start doing it.
This was so fun it makes me want to do more Harry Potter.

Mickey's Deep Sea Dive

I never got around to posting the other piece from
Wonderground Gallery so here it is.
This was a lot of fun to make. I love doing the
kind of work were there are a lot of little parts but
they don't need to fit together perfectly. I had most of it
planned but I made lots of new coral and fish to fill it out.
I wanted to hide a lot of Mickey heads down in the sea life.
so that it could be a piece where you could look at it
everyday but all of a sudden find new things.

Also the Wonderground opening in Downtown Disney
was amazing. So many great people came out to the signing
and I got to meet some amazing people I have wanted to
meet for awhile (I'm looking at you Jerrod and Michelle.)
At the gallery they also have an exclusive print of the
Wall-E piece as well as a Wall-E sketchbook!
Super cool and only at the gallery.
The show will be up for about 6 months so swing by if you
are going to Disneyland Anaheim. It is an amazing space.

A Parent's Guide to 21st Century Learning

I have the great opportunity to show some
work that I've been doing for Edutopia.
They provide amazing information
for parents and teachers, with teaching guides,
blogs, and message board communities.
It's an amazing resource. I illustrated their new guide
A Parent's Guide to 21st Century Learning.
It's about improving education through project-based
learning, online resources, and technology.

I did the cover including the title and border
as well as many other elements inside.
The guide covers many different grade levels.
Here is one of the page layouts.
I love doing little elements, like the numbers,
that really help tie everything together.
Here are some other spots that look like
faux apps that they sprinkled throughout.
The colors and the border throughout create an
awesome package. You can download the guide here.
It requires registration but this, as well as other
information on the site, is priceless for
any teacher or parent.

Look At This! Look At That! A tribute to Dr. Seuss

I started off friday with some green eggs and ham.
(Seriously, they were very green.)
We saw The Lorax, which was delightfully good.
And my weekend continues to be very Seussian with
the show that opens tonight at Gallery Nucleus.
As always it's going to be quite the event.
Here is a little peek at my piece:
It was super fun to do and it was interesting
to see how much I kind of draw like Dr. Seuss.
There are going to be AMAZING pieces there
like Phil's and Ping's as well as many more!
The show runs through the 24th.

Muppets and Post Its

Saturday December 10th is going to be a busy one.
I have a piece at Gallery Nucleus in the show
I chose to do a rainbow of Muppets.
These characters were so fun to draw and cut.
Hopefully this isn't the last time I ever draw a muppet.
This show has an great line up and from the preview pieces
that I've seen this is going to be an amazing show!

That same night I have 5 Post Its
in the Post-It Show 7 at Giant Robot 2.
Here they are all together.
I didn't think I was going to get much detail on
such a small piece of paper but I think I did alright.
There are 1000's of pieces and most Post Its are only $20 each!
Hope to see you at one or both of these shows Saturday night.

Poolga Wallpapers

I got the awesome opportunity to make some
iPhone wallpapers for Poolga.
It's an amazing resource of great art work
for your tiny talking device.

I wanted to design some before and after scenes.
I've been drawing a lot of bugs lately, so I chose
to incorporate them into seasonal garden wallpapers.
Summer Garden
Autumn Garden
I'm very proud of these.
They are simple but complex and
were really fun to try to figure out.
Enjoy!
